The Brackenridge Foundation's grantee schools are all tuition-free, open-enrollment, public charter schools. Portfolio schools have received grants to expand while startup schools have received grants to assist in opening.
BASIS Texas was founded in 2013. It currently serves over 3,200 students
across five campuses: BASIS San Antonio - Northeast Campus, BASIS San Antonio - Shavano Campus, BASIS San Antonio Primary - Medical Center, BASIS San Antonio Primary - North Central, and BASIS San Antonio Primary - Northeast.
BASIS San Antonio - Jack Lewis Jr. Campus will be opening in August 2022!
Compass Rose Public Schools was founded in 2017. It currently serves over 2,300 students across three campuses: Compass Rose Ingenuity, Compass Rose Journey, and Compass Rose Legacy.
Essence Preparatory Public School will open in August 2022 and serve students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade at maturity.
The Gathering Place opened in 2020 and will serve students in grades kindergarten though twelfth grade at maturity.
Great Hearts Texas was founded in 2014. It currently serves more than 5,000 students across five academies in San Antonio – Great Hearts Monte Vista, Great Hearts Northern Oaks, Great Hearts Western Hills, Great Hearts Forest Heights, and Great Hearts Live Oak.

IDEA Public Schools opened its first campus in San Antonio in 2012. It has since grown to serve over 20,000 students across fifteen campuses: IDEA Amber Creek, IDEA Brackenridge, IDEA Burke, IDEA Carver, IDEA Converse, IDEA Eastside, IDEA Ewing Halsell, IDEA Hidden Meadow, IDEA Ingram Hills, IDEA Judson, IDEA Mays, IDEA Monterrey Park, IDEA Najim, IDEA South Flores, and IDEA Walzem.
KIPP Public Schools first starting serving students in San Antonio in 2003. Today, KIPP Texas - San Antonio serves nearly 4,000 students across seven schools: KIPP Aspire Academy, KIPP Camino Academy, KIPP Esperanza Primary, KIPP Poder Academy, KIPP Somos Collegiate High School, KIPP Un Mundo Primary, and KIPP University Prep High School.
Legacy Traditional Schools - Texas (formerly the School of Excellence in Education) serves students in grades PK-12 across four campuses: Kelley Elementary, Walker Elementary, Saenz Junior High, and Lee Academy.

Promesa Academy Charter School opened in 2020 and will serve students in grades K-12 at maturity.
Royal Public Schools opened in 2021 and will serve students in grades K-12 across multiple campuses at maturity.
San Antonio Preparatory Charter School opened in 2020 and will serve students in grades 5-12 at maturity.
The School of Science and Technology (SST) serves students in grades PK-12 across six schools: School of Science and Technology Alamo, School of Science and Technology Discovery, School of Science and Technology Hill Country, School of Science and Technology Northwest, School of Science and Technology San Antonio, and School of Science and Technology Schertz.
