KIPP's mission is to educate students with the academic and character skills necessary to thrive in and graduate from college, positively impact their communities, and lead choice-filled lives. KIPP emphasizes values, character, and academics in small, community-focused schools. In the San Antonio area, KIPP operates seven schools educating over 3,500 K-12 students.
KIPP University Prep offers a growing number of International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) courses including AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Spanish Literature, IB Theory of Knowledge, IB Environmental Systems and Societies, IB Visual Art, IB Theatre, IB Music, IB Dance, and IB Film.
IB takes a holistic portfolio approach to education, allowing students to demonstrate their knowledge through in-class projects and papers, as well as end of course assessments. IB also provides students with a range of academic choices, so students can tailor their classes and activities to suit their interests and future career aspirations.
KIPP Somos Collegiate will be an AP for All school, which means that each student will graduate having taken at least 10 Advanced Placement courses.
KIPP Texas - San Antonio students enjoy a variety of extracurricular programs including soccer, volleyball, basketball, cross-country, baseball, softball, choir, journalism, Mexican American studies, ballet, ballet folklórico, yoga, and Zumba.
For the sixth consecutive year, KIPP University Prep had a one-hundred percent college acceptance rate.
Members of the class of 2020 will be attending Duke University, Howard University, Our Lady of the Lake University, Texas A&M University, Texas Southern University, University of the Incarnate Word, University of Texas at San Antonio, and more!
KIPP Texas students graduate college at a rate three times higher than the national average for students in educationally underserved neighborhoods. This is due, in part, to KIPP’s continued dedication to their students even after high school graduation.
KIPP Through College (KTC) remains a constant source of support for students from college entry to graduation to ensure that they remain on the path to college completion and career readiness. By intentionally building relationships, KTC is able to address specific issues, steer students towards appropriate resources, and empower students to advocate for themselves.
